Time: 4 min ·
Difficulty: Beginner ·
Family: The Sidecar Family
Ingredients
- 2 oz Blanco Tequila (100% agave)
- 1 oz Cointreau or Orange Liqueur
- 2 oz Mango Nectar (or a smooth mango purée)
- 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 0.5 oz Simple Syrup (adjust for the sweetness of the mango)
How to make a Mango Margarita
- Run a lime wedge around half the rim of a rocks glass. Dip the moistened half in flaky salt or chili-lime seasoning, then fill the glass with fresh ice.
- Add blanco tequila, orange liqueur, mango nectar, fresh lime juice and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Shake hard for 12 to 15 seconds, until the shaker is very cold and the mango is fully integrated.
- Strain over the fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel and thin mango slice, then serve immediately.
Garnish
Half Tajín or salt rim, lime wheel and a thin mango slice.
Pro tip
Mango nectar varies widely in sweetness. Start with the listed syrup, taste the chilled mixture if possible, and reduce it slightly when using a very sweet nectar. Fresh lime should keep the finish crisp rather than candy-like.
History of the Mango Margarita
Mango Margarita is a contemporary fruit-forward Margarita variation, rather than a single historically fixed specification. It keeps the tequila, orange liqueur and fresh lime structure of the classic while using mango for a fuller tropical profile. Served on fresh ice, it belongs naturally alongside the modern fruit variations of the Margarita family.
Flavour profile

- Guava Margarita — Use fragrant pink guava for a floral-tropical fruit direction.
- Spicy Margarita — Bring in jalapeño or chili for a bright fruit-and-heat contrast.
- Mezcal Margarita — Use mezcal for a smoky counterpart to the mango.
