Difficulty: Beginner ·
Family: The Sidecar Family
Ingredients
- 2 oz Blanco Tequila (100% agave)
- 3 oz Pink Guava Juice or Nectar (chilled)
- 0.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 0.5 oz Cointreau or Orange Liqueur
- 0.5 oz Agave Syrup (adjust for the sweetness of the guava)
How to make a Guava Margarita
- Run a lime wedge around half the rim of a rocks glass. Dip the moistened half in flaky salt or chili-lime seasoning, then fill the glass with fresh ice.
- Add tequila, guava juice or nectar, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur and agave syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Shake vigorously for about 12 seconds, until the shaker is very cold and the guava is fully integrated.
- Strain over the fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel and a thin guava wedge, then serve immediately.
Garnish
Optional half salt or chili-lime rim, lime wheel and a thin pink guava wedge.
Pro tip
Guava nectar is thicker and sweeter than guava juice. When using nectar, begin with slightly less agave and let the fresh lime keep the finish bright.
History of the Guava Margarita
Guava Margarita, sometimes called a Guavarita, is a modern fruit-forward Margarita variation. It keeps the familiar tequila, orange liqueur and lime framework while pink guava brings a fragrant, floral-tropical flavor between strawberry, pineapple and passion fruit.

- Passion Fruit Margarita — Use tart passion-fruit purée for a more aromatic tropical direction.
- Spicy Margarita — Bring in jalapeño or chili for a bright fruit-and-heat contrast.
- Mezcal Margarita — Use mezcal for a smoky counterpoint to the fruit.
