Coffee Cocoa Highball mocktail recipe
Cold brew, cacao syrup, orange and soda in a long coffee drink that stays light.
Method: Build · Glass: Highball glass · Time: 4 minutes · Difficulty: Beginner
Ingredients
- 2½ oz cold brew coffee
- ½ oz cacao syrup
- 1 tsp fresh orange juice
- 3 oz chilled club soda
- to fill large ice cubes
How to make it
- Fill a highball with ice.
- Add cold brew, cacao syrup and orange juice.
- Top slowly with cold club soda.
- Lift once, express the orange peel and serve.
Garnish
One short orange peel
Why this balance works
Cold brew and cacao can turn dense quickly. Keep the cacao syrup at half an ounce and use only a teaspoon of orange juice; the goal is an aromatic highball, not a chocolate coffee dessert. Taste before soda if your cold brew is especially bitter.
Technique to keep
Use coffee that has been chilled fully before it meets the soda. Warm coffee melts the ice and dulls the carbonation. Add soda last and give the drink one lift; the orange peel is enough to connect the roast and cocoa without extra sweetness.
