Ingredients
- 2 oz White Rum
- 0.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 0.75 oz Passion Fruit Purée
- 0.25 oz Maraschino Liqueur
- 0.25 oz Simple Syrup (adjust for the sweetness of the purée)
- 1 cup Crushed Ice
How to make a Frozen Passion Fruit
- Add white rum, lime juice, passion fruit purée, maraschino, simple syrup and crushed ice to a blender.
- Blend just until smooth, pale and slushy, stopping before the mixture becomes watery.
- Pour into a chilled coupe glass.
- Garnish with a lime wheel or half passion fruit and serve immediately.
Garnish
Lime wheel or half passion fruit.
Pro tip
Passion fruit purées vary widely in sweetness. Start with the smaller simple-syrup measure, taste a spoonful from the blender, and add only enough to soften the lime without muting the fruit.
History of the Frozen Passion Fruit
Frozen Passion Fruit is a modern tropical extension of the El Floridita-style Daiquiri. It keeps the rum, lime and lightly aromatic maraschino framework, then layers in passion fruit for a more vivid frozen serve.
Flavour profile
Tropical, Citrus, Frozen, Bright
Variations
- Daiquiri No. 3 — Blend rum, citrus, maraschino and crushed ice into the numbered El Floridita-style frozen serve
- Hemingway Daiquiri — Shake the grapefruit-and-maraschino profile over ice for a clear, drier coupe
- Chartreuse Daiquiri — Swap tropical fruit for a dry green-herbal liqueur accent
