Ingredients
- 2 oz Rye Whiskey
- 0.75 oz Dry Vermouth
- 0.25 oz Maraschino Liqueur
- 0.25 oz Cynar
How to make a Bensonhurst
- Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir for 25–30 seconds until chilled and diluted.
- Strain into a chilled coupe.
- Express a lemon twist over the glass and discard or garnish.

Pro tip
Cynar is bitter but also softly vegetal; keep the measure modest so it supports the rye rather than taking over the drink.

Created in Brooklyn by Chad Solomon and Michael McIlroy, the Bensonhurst is a modern rye-and-amaro cousin of the Brooklyn cocktail.
