Peppermint Chocolate Cooler mocktail recipe
Peppermint tea, cacao and oat milk shaken cold for a restrained chocolate-mint serve.
Method: Shake · Glass: Double rocks glass · Time: 7 minutes plus chilling · Difficulty: Intermediate
Ingredients
- 2 oz strong chilled peppermint tea
- 1 oz chilled oat milk
- ½ oz cacao syrup
- ¼ oz vanilla syrup
- 1 small pinch fine sea salt
- 1 cup ice cubes
How to make it
- Brew peppermint tea strong, then chill it completely.
- Add peppermint tea, oat milk, cacao syrup, vanilla syrup and salt to a shaker with ice.
- Shake until very cold, then strain over one large cube in a double rocks glass.
- Rest the mint leaf on the cube, dust very lightly with cacao and serve.
Garnish
One small fresh mint leaf and a fine cacao dusting
Why this balance works
The drink should taste like dark chocolate with a cool aromatic finish, not like toothpaste or a milkshake. Peppermint tea is more controlled than extract, and the small salt pinch makes cacao read deeper. Use unsweetened oat milk so the syrups stay measured.
Technique to keep
Chill the tea before shaking and use one large serving cube after straining. That keeps the cocoa texture smooth without turning the drink watery immediately. Mint is a scent here, not a muddled ingredient; keep the garnish small and do not add peppermint extract.
