Strawberry Daiquiri recipe
Forget the frozen slushie machine — a real strawberry daiquiri is shaken, balanced, and actually tastes like strawberries.
Method: Shake ·
Glass: Coupe ·
Time: 3 min ·
Difficulty: Beginner ·
Family: The Daiquiri Family
Ingredients
- 2 oz White Rum (Havana Club or Plantation 3 Star)
- 0.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 0.5 oz Simple Syrup
- 3-4 Fresh Strawberries (hulled and halved)
How to make a Strawberry Daiquiri
- Muddle strawberries in the shaker until broken down.
- Add rum, lime juice, and simple syrup.
- Add ice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
- Double strain into a chilled coupe to catch the seeds.
- Garnish with a strawberry half.
Garnish
Strawberry half on the rim.
Pro tip
Use ripe, in-season strawberries — they make all the difference. If your berries are bland, macerate them in a teaspoon of sugar for 10 minutes first. The double strain is non-negotiable unless you enjoy chewing your cocktail.
History of the Strawberry Daiquiri
The classic Daiquiri dates to 1898 Cuba, but the strawberry version gained popularity in the 1980s — unfortunately mostly as a frozen blender drink. The shaken version respects the original template (spirit + citrus + sweet) while adding fresh fruit. It's what the frozen machine wishes it could be.
