Time: 4 min ·
Difficulty: Intermediate ·
Family: The Sidecar Family
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz Blanco Tequila
- 1/2 oz Campari
- 3/4 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice
- 1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 1/2 oz Simple Syrup
How to make a Siesta
- Chill a coupe glass.
- Add tequila, Campari, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and syrup to a shaker with ice.
- Shake hard for 12 to 15 seconds.
- Fine strain into the chilled glass.
- Express a grapefruit twist over the surface.
Garnish
Grapefruit twist.
Pro tip
Fresh grapefruit gives the drink its soft bitterness. Bottled grapefruit juice is usually too sweet and makes Campari feel blunt.
History of the Siesta
The Siesta was created by Katie Stipe at New York's Pegu Club in 2006. It became a modern staple because it takes ingredients people already know and combines them in a surprisingly balanced way.
