Ingredients
- 4 oz Amontillado or Oloroso Sherry
- 1/2 oz Fresh Orange Juice
- 1/2 oz Simple Syrup
- 2 Orange Slices
How to make a Sherry Cobbler
- Add sherry, orange juice, syrup, and orange slices to a wine glass.
- Fill halfway with crushed ice and stir until frosty.
- Mound more crushed ice on top.
- Pile on berries, orange, and mint.
- Serve with a straw and a long spoon.
Garnish
Seasonal berries, orange slices, and mint.
Pro tip
The cobbler wants a dry or nutty sherry. Cream sherry turns it cloying once fruit and syrup are added.
History of the Sherry Cobbler
The Sherry Cobbler was among the most popular drinks of the nineteenth century and helped popularize the drinking straw. Its crushed ice and fruit presentation laid groundwork for later tropical cocktails.
