Time: 5 min ·
Difficulty: Intermediate ·
Family: The Martini Family
Ingredients
- 1.75 oz Vodka
- 0.5 oz Coffee Liqueur (Kahlúa or a drier coffee liqueur)
- 1 oz Fresh Espresso (hot, just pulled)
- 0.25 oz Salted Caramel Syrup (plus a tiny pinch of flaky salt if needed)
How to make a Salted Caramel Espresso Martini
- Chill a coupe glass while you pull a fresh espresso.
- Add vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso and salted caramel syrup to a shaker with ice.
- Shake hard for 15 seconds so the espresso oils build a stable crema.
- Double strain into the chilled coupe.
- Float three coffee beans on the foam and finish with only a tiny pinch of salt.
Garnish
Three coffee beans and a light pinch of flaky sea salt.
Pro tip
Salt should sharpen the caramel and coffee, not taste like a salted drink. Start with a small amount of syrup and add more only if the espresso is especially bitter.
History of the Salted Caramel Espresso Martini
Salted caramel is a modern pastry and café flavor pairing rather than a fixed historic cocktail style. In this variation it is used as a measured sweetener, keeping the original Espresso Martini’s coffee aroma and hard-shake technique intact.
