Ingredients
- 2 oz Bourbon
- 1/2 oz Coffee Liqueur
- 2 dashes Orange Bitters
How to make a Revolver
- Add bourbon, coffee liqueur, and orange bitters to a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir for 20 to 25 seconds until cold.
- Strain over one large cube in a rocks glass.
- Hold an orange peel over the drink, warm it briefly, and express its oils through the flame if comfortable doing so.
- Rub the peel around the rim and drop it in.
Garnish
Flamed orange peel.
Pro tip
If you are not confident with a flame, just express the orange peel normally. The drink stays excellent without the theatrical step.
History of the Revolver
The Revolver was created by Jon Santer in San Francisco in 2004. Its coffee-and-orange combination became a blueprint for modern whiskey cocktails that feel familiar without copying the Old Fashioned exactly.
