How to make a Mojito Royal
- Gently muddle mint leaves with simple syrup in a shaker.
- Add rum and lime juice with ice.
- Shake briefly — just 5-6 seconds.
- Strain into a champagne flute or highball with ice.
- Top with champagne or prosecco.
- Garnish with a mint sprig.
Garnish
Mint sprig and lime wheel.
Pro tip
Don't over-shake — you want to keep things light since the champagne provides the effervescence. The bubbles carry the mint aroma beautifully. Use a brut champagne, not sweet.
History of the Mojito Royal
A natural evolution of the classic Mojito, the Royal version substitutes champagne for club soda. It became popular in high-end bars and beach clubs in the 2000s as a celebratory summer cocktail.
