History of the Lynchburg Lemonade
Created in 1980 by Tony Mason, owner of Mason's Bar & Grill in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The drink achieved international acclaim and a famous legal dispute when Mason sued Jack Daniel's over the unauthorized commercial promotion of his proprietary recipe, ultimately cementing its status in cocktail lore.
Flavour profile
Citrus, Sweet, Boozy
Variations
- Blackberry Lynchburg — Muddle 4 fresh blackberries in the shaker before adding the core ingredients for a berry-forward profile.
- Bourbon Peach Lemonade — Substitute peach schnapps for the triple sec and use standard Kentucky bourbon for a lush, stone-fruit sweetness.
- Apple Lynchburg — Replace triple sec with Calvados or apple liqueur, topping with ginger ale instead of lemon-lime soda for spiced autumn warmth.
