The Galliano float is what makes this more than a Screwdriver. Its vanilla-anise flavor adds an herbal layer that transforms the drink.

Popularized in the 1970s through a massive marketing campaign by Galliano. The name supposedly comes from a California surfer named Harvey who drank so many he kept banging into walls. Whether true or not, it became one of the decade's most iconic cocktails.
