Ingredients
- 2 oz Barbados Rum
- 1/2 oz Falernum
- 1/4 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
How to make a Corn 'n' Oil
- Add rum, falernum, lime juice, and bitters to a rocks glass.
- Fill the glass with crushed ice.
- Stir briefly until the outside of the glass frosts.
- Mound a little more crushed ice on top.
- Garnish with lime and extra bitters.
Garnish
Lime wheel and a few dashes of bitters on top.
Pro tip
Falernum provides the sweetness, clove, and lime leaf character. Do not replace it with plain syrup unless you want a much flatter drink.
History of the Corn 'n' Oil
Corn 'n' Oil is a Barbadian classic, though the name's origin remains debated. The drink shows how much complexity rum and falernum can produce with only a few ingredients.
