History of the Bushwacker
While its exact birthplace remains contested between the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Sandshaker Lounge in Pensacola Beach, Florida, the Bushwacker became an enduring icon of Gulf Coast beach culture after taking root in 1975. Modern bartenders still keep Bushwacker in circulation because the recipe shows a clear point of view without needless decoration.

- Island Mudslide — Substitute Irish cream for the cream of coconut for an even creamier, dairy-forward profile.
- Spiced Banana Bushwacker — Blend in half a fresh ripe banana and substitute spiced rum for dark rum.
- Espresso Bushwacker — Add a shot of freshly brewed espresso to amplify the coffee notes and balance the sweetness.
